Summary

The Single Market Strategy addresses obstacles to operating, trading and working across EU borders. It combines simplification and stronger implementation with changes to company rules, public procurement, product regulation and services. Digital procedures, common standards and better recognition of qualifications are intended to reduce fragmentation. The strategy also covers worker mobility, construction and business services, communications networks and transport. Measures for SMEs and small mid-caps seek to make compliance more proportionate and improve access to markets and finance. Cooperation with national authorities and potential changes to preventive and enforcement tools support the wider programme.
